Visit the IVD Industry Connectivity Consortium at AACC 2014

If you are going to AACC in Chicago this year, do pay us a visit at the IVD Industry Connectivity Consortium booth (#2378). The IICC has worked with several standards organizations to develop a new interoperability framework that provides plug-n-play connectivity between instruments, middleware, and LIS or LAS systems. The resulting IICC standard is documented in the IHE Laboratory Analytical Workflow (LAW) profile. You should plan ahead to adopt LAW as it

  • Is a global standard
  • Substantially reduces connectivity installation cost and time
  • Supports federal guidelines on Meaningful Use
  • Improves integrity of patient data
  • Standardizes the data flow of IVD patient and QC test work order steps and results between instruments, middleware, and LIS or LAS systems
  • Supports rerun and reflex testing
  • Is HL7 2.5.1 based
  • Supports LOINC® and JLAC10 vocabularies
  • Has extensive implementation and test resources available

Vendors interested in implementing and testing the standard can participate in the IHE Connectathons held annually in Asia, Europe, and North America, or can use IHE Gazelle, for online interoperability and conformance testing.

Don’t wait! The IICC/IHE Laboratory Analytical Workflow LAW Profile is slated for CLSI publication approval later this year and the following industry leading companies have already committed their support: Abbott Diagnostics, A&T, Beckman Coulter, Becton Dickinson, bioMérieux, Data Innovations, Hitachi, IZASA SA, Orchard Software, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Roche Diagnostics, Samsung, Siemens Medical Solutions, Sunquest Information Systems, and Systelab Technologies SA.

For more information on IICC and the Laboratory Analytical Workflow (LAW) profile, go to www.ivdconnectivity.org

We are looking for test sites! If your laboratory uses instruments, middleware, LIS, or LAS systems from any of the above vendors, and you may be interested in trying the Laboratory Analytical Workflow (LAW) profile, please contact me or come and see us at the booth!

We look forward to seeing you at AACC 2014!
