IICC LAW Profile tested at 2014 Connectathon Chicago as part of IHE Laboratory

Nearly 600 software architects and engineers weathered the bitter cold in Chicago to attend IHE’s 2014 North American Connectathon from 27 to 31 January. Among the many profiles tested was the IICC developed Laboratory Analytical Workflow (LAW) Profile. Already part of the 2013 European and Japanese Connectathons, this was a first for North America. Participants included representatives of major IVD instrument manufacturers, middleware, and LIS companies.

IHE provides a detailed implementation and testing process to promote the adoption of standards-based interoperability by vendors and users of healthcare information systems. The Connectathons are weeklong interoperability-testing events held annually in Asia, Europe and North America. The Connectathon events validate the participants’ interoperability and compliance with the IHE profiles. The next European Connectathon will be held in Vienna from April 7 to 11, 2014 and is expected to draw more than 300 participants from all over Europe, Japan, and the US.

Cleveland, OH will host the next North American Connectathon, from January 26 to 30, 2015. For more information click here.
